Training and Consultation (TaC) Staff Developer

Val has been with LIU since 2018 and currently serves as a Staff Developer for Assistive Technology & Inclusive Practices Initiatives. Val has been a certified speech-language pathologist for over 24 years. She also works as a pediatric speech-language pathologist at TCS: Therapy & Counseling Services in Camp Hill since Summer 2021, where she works exclusively with children with complex communication needs. Before coming to LIU she worked as a district-employed speech-language pathologist for two different districts for a total of nearly 20 years.

Through both of my initiatives, I work to help teachers make education and educational opportunities accessible to all students with disabilities. My goal is to provide special educators and related services providers with the support and services I would have benefitted from as a school-based special educator/related service provider. The passions I have that fall under the scope of my initiatives are the following: AAC (Augmentative-Alternative Communication), building literacy skills in students with extensive support needs, and DIY AT/AT Makers.

I married my husband, Michael, in 2020. I'm the mom of a teenage roller coaster enthusiast and two rescued Siamese cats. I love listening to audiobooks, cooking, trivia, pro football, fantasy football, Disney (esp Beauty and the Beast), Harry Potter, and think everyone should watch "Ted Lasso."
