LIU12 Adams County Literacy Council

Welcome to Adams County Literacy Council
Who We Are:
Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 Adams County Literacy Council (ACLC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency. ACLC is part of the adult education division of Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 – a local educational services provider. We have been serving the adults of Adams County, PA since 1986 by offering small group and one-on-one instruction for adults who are looking to improve their basic literacy and English language skills. The ACLC provides quality instruction through generous and talented volunteer tutors at no cost to adult learners. Because we know that improving literacy benefits communities by lowering health costs, reducing crime, and enriching the economy, our goal at the LIU12 ACLC is to aid the low-literate adults of our communities in their efforts to increase their literacy and improve their life skills.
Enrollment:
Interested adult learners may text or call 223-230-8946 to arrange for an enrollment appointment. Instruction will be arranged at public locations that are mutually agreeable to both the student and the tutor. Remote learning options are also available.
Volunteering:
Volunteer tutors are always needed. Tutor training is held at various times during the year, both online and in person. Please call the office, complete the Volunteer Interest Google Form, or email Nicole Buhrman at nlbuhrman@iu12.org for more details on volunteering as a tutor. Volunteers can also be used in capacities other than tutoring.
