Guest Teacher/Substitute Teacher Training

Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 offers a Guest Teacher/Substitute Teacher Training program on behalf of Adams, Franklin and York County school districts as well as for our LIU 12 special education classrooms.  This program provides an opportunity for those with limited or no classroom experience to become day-to-day substitutes.

Individuals who hold a bachelor's degree in any field are eligible to apply to become substitute teachers. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) permits school districts and intermediate units to request emergency certifications for qualified candidates. Those who complete the substitute teacher training requirements are eligible to substitute in LIU 12 classrooms and in participating school districts across the region.

Renewal Process

Each year after the initial training year, Guest Teachers will receive an email from the Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 HR Department in June requesting the information needed to renew their emergency permit. Guest Teachers are responsible for submitting the requested information and the permit fee by the stated deadline. Please note: PDE/TIMS cannot process permit renewals for the upcoming school year until the rollover is complete, which is why renewal requests are not sent until June.

NOTE:

If you do not currently have a bachelor's degree and are interested in substituting for LIU12 as a classroom paraprofessional/assistant, please click here for more information.
