Chelly has been involved in the field of education for the past 31 years. Prior to taking her position at LIU in 2021, she was a trainer and consultant at Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) for 7 years.  Additionally, she spent 23 years as a special education teacher.

Chelly is a staff developer for LIU. She spends much of her time focused on MTSS math, assistive technologies, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
