Director of Educational Services

Dr. Michele M. Orner began her role as Director of Educational Services for the Lincoln Intermediate Unit on May 1, 2023.

Prior to joining LIU12, Michele served as superintendent in the Octorara Area School District and the Halifax Area School District as well as Director of Career and Technical Education in the Carlisle Area School District. During her  career, she has worked in school districts in Adams, Franklin, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, and Chester counties as a teacher, graduation project coordinator, and secondary principal. She was also an adjunct professor at the Gettysburg Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College for over 20 years.

Michele supports public education as an Education Policy Leadership Center (EPLC) Fellow, Associate Member of PARSS, the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools, and as board member for the 21st Century Cyber Charter school. She lives in Gettysburg with her husband Todd, the Director of the Gettysburg Area Education Foundation.

Supporting teaching, learning, and innovation is part of the critical work intermediate units do across the Commonwealth. In support of that work, Michele looks forward to building on the success of the Educational Services Division in providing quality professional development and related services to the IU12 region.
